It sounds like a detail. It isn’t. When panels come from a supplier they arrive in standard lengths, which means horizontal seams across your roof — and every seam is a place water can eventually get in. We measure your roof, then form panels to match it.

Metal roofing questions
The things people always ask.
Is a metal roof loud in the rain?
Not on a house. The noise people remember comes from metal laid straight onto open purlins on a barn. Over solid decking and underlayment in an insulated attic, most customers say it’s no louder than shingle.
Will it dent in hail?
Heavy hail can mark any roof. Steel handles impact better than asphalt and, unlike shingle, a dent is cosmetic rather than a breach — the granules aren’t being knocked off a layer that’s protecting you.
Can you put metal over my existing shingles?
Sometimes, and it saves on tear-off. But we only recommend it when the decking underneath is sound, and we won’t know that without getting up there. That’s part of the free inspection.
Does it attract lightning?
No. Metal roofs don’t make a strike more likely. They’re non-combustible, which is a point in their favour if one ever does happen.
Will my insurance cost change?
Several carriers on this coast offer a discount for a wind-rated metal roof. Worth asking yours before you decide — we’ll give you the spec sheet to send them.
